Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 2026

Purpose

Homogamous exists to connect people through shared intellectual interests. It is not a dating service, a social network, or a messaging platform. The interactions here are intentionally minimal — proximity, not conversation.

Entries Should Be Honest

Your 7 entries per subset should reflect your genuine interests, not what you think will produce interesting matches. The system works best when people are truthful. Gaming the entries defeats the purpose.

No Spam or Manipulation

  • Do not create multiple accounts.
  • Do not submit nonsense, random text, or AI-generated filler.
  • Do not create subsets solely to advertise products or services.
  • Do not use the API to bulk-submit entries on behalf of others.

Respect Others

  • Do not include offensive, hateful, or harassing content in your entries, bio, or username.
  • Do not attempt to identify, stalk, or contact users outside the platform based on matching data.
  • Profile pictures must be appropriate — no explicit, violent, or deceptive imagery.

Subset Creation

When creating a subset, write a clear description that helps others understand what to enter. Subset names and descriptions must follow the same respect guidelines above. Subsets that violate guidelines will be removed.

What Happens to Text Entries

Your raw entries are never shown to other users. They are converted into mathematical vectors and only the similarity between vectors is used. However, entries that violate these guidelines may still be reviewed by administrators during moderation.

Enforcement

Violations may result in removal of content, suspension, or permanent ban at our discretion. We aim to keep this space thoughtful and low-noise.
