Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Homogamous ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Homogamous is an experimental platform that matches users based on semantic similarity of self-reported interests. The Service computes vector embeddings from user-submitted text entries and finds approximate nearest neighbors in the embedding space.

3. User Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old and provide a valid email address to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. One account per person.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of the text entries you submit. By submitting entries, you grant Homogamous a non-exclusive license to process, embed, store, and compare your entries for the purpose of providing the matching Service. You must not submit content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others.

5. Privacy and Matching

Matching results are only shown when a subset reaches the minimum anonymity threshold (K-anonymity, currently 49 participants). Your raw entries are never displayed to other users. Only your display name, username, bio, and approximate similarity score are shown.

6. Prohibited Use

You may not: use the Service for spam, harassment, or abuse; attempt to reverse-engineer other users' entries from similarity scores; create multiple accounts to manipulate matching; or use automated tools to scrape user data.

7. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Similarity scores are approximate and should not be relied upon for any critical purpose. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any matching results.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Homogamous shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

9. Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Nature of Service

Homogamous is an interest-similarity discovery tool. It is not a dating service, social network, or messaging platform. It does not collect or use gender, age, location, or relationship preferences. No direct messaging or real-time communication features are provided.
